Bleak Football News

Firstly, from the WTF files: T.O. hospitalized after attempted suicide.

Secondly, Chris Henry's troubles still continue. His fourth arrest earlier this year was for providing alcohol to underage girls. Apparently, part of the condition of his bond was that he was not supposed to drink alcohol.

Which means he has to explain what he was doing with drunk teammates at 3:30 a.m. after winning the big Steelers game (earlier post). When O'Dell Thurman was pulled over, he said he was driving because everyone else had drunk more. Well, "everyone else" includes Chris Henry, who then opened up the window and threw up.

If Henry had not been drinking, wouldn't he have been the designated driver? So Thurman is lying or Henry was drunk.

This is getting out of control. We might lose Thurman for the season and Henry could get sent to jail for violating his bond. And it's not like the courts have to respect the NFL season and wait until it's over for Henry to start serving time.

just curious...but where's the coach? I'm sure he's made some comments about "we don't condone this behavior" - but seriously, from a national perspective, i sure haven't seen or heard him angry, outspoken, critical, or anything. that's just ridiculous. If you allow your players to conduct themselves this way, and you don't discipline them because they're your best players...it just continues.

The Bengals are a great team. this has the potential to screw their season.

Well, this is awful, of course. But the awrulness is mitigated, however slightly, by its having given the Enquirer's Paul Daugherty the opportunity to use both "barf" and "hurl" in one column. Can't get enough of that

I'll have to read Daugherty's column.

Regarding coach Lewis: He's characteristically tight-lipped but he has made clear statements that he really has no tolerance for this kind of crap. Unfortunately, the Bengals have a rule that action cannot be taken for off-field behavior.

I think what will happen next is that the coach and team will call a team meeting and bitch-slap these guys until they understand.
